New Book Projects

As mentioned elsewhere, the various random pieces of writing and photos published on this website will, at intervals, be collected into actual physical volumes based around various themes. For some projects, however, we’ll take the opposite approach, and put out a request for pieces to be included in a book on a theme that’s already been decided. At the moment, we have three such projects underway: an anthology of pieces about the effect of the Olympics on London (From the Slopes of Olympus to the Banks of the Lea); a collection of tales about London’s music venues over the years (Night Bus To Camden); and a pictorial series cataloguing some of the more interesting things you can’t do in our wonderful capital (Please Do Not Touch The Walrus). More details about each project can be found by clicking on the appropriate title.

Initially, successful pieces will be treated like regular submissions, i.e. they’ll appear on the home page blog and be filed under the WORDS & IMAGES/LINES OF SMOKE tab according to author, subject matter and place. In addition, though, they’ll be filed away under the appropriate project heading, to await being printed and bound into something deliciously papery you can leave lying casually on your coffee table. And, once a new project is well underway, we’ll probably save most of the submissions solely for the printed version, rather than post them on the website, otherwise it wouldn’t be particularly exciting…
